The Right Culture

AMERICAN’s culture is different from most corporate cultures. Some things that set us apart are:

  • Elected representation – Fourteen employees are elected by their peers to represent the interests of employees in company operations. Four serve on the board of directors. The elected representatives fulfill specific duties on committees and, at times, serve on special project teams.
  • Continuous improvement – Employees are drawn from throughout the company to serve on teams chartered to make improvements in assigned areas of operation. It is a way to learn more about other departments, make new friends and develop team leadership skills while strengthening the company.
  • The AMERICAN family – Employees representing third and fourth generations of AMERICAN families perpetuate a tradition of sincere care and support for one another.
  • Commitment to faith – AMERICAN’s founder and first president, John J. Eagan, was a devoutly religious man who was committed to applying principles of Christian faith to his business. That commitment continues today in the company’s Golden Rule philosophy of treating others the way you want to be treated.
